Sacklers Settle Opioid Suits, But Criminal Prosecution Still Possible

The owners of Purdue Pharma, the Sackler family, reached a $6 billion agreement with a coalition of states and Washington, D.C. to settle a number of lawsuits related to their alleged role in fueling the nation’s opioid crisis. So reports Town and Country Magazine.

drug 1674890 640smallThe agreement calls for at least $5.5 billion to be paid in cash with more on the table contingent upon the selling of additional family assets. The agreement puts an end to any and all civil claims related to the matter, but does not extend to potential criminal actions.
