NJ Teen Living With Friends Sues Parents For Support Payments

Are non-divorced parents obligated to pay for their children's college education and provide other financial support after the child has left home?

A New Jersey family court is facing that very question thanks to Rachel Canning, a Garden State teen who filed suit against her parents last week for $5,000 in Catholic high school tuition and access to her college fund. So reports the Chicago Tribune.

Canning, who has been living with a friend’s family, claims her parents kicked her out of their home when she turned 18. Her parents claim that she refused to follow their rules and left voluntarily.
