Fertility Clinic Mix-up Leads to Lawsuit from Parents Who Raised Another Couple’s Baby  

The parents of a newborn baby are suing their physician, fertility clinic and embryology lab after the mother gave birth to someone else's baby, and someone else gave birth to the couple's baby. So reports The New York Daily News.   

ivf g20a4fb4a2 640The mishap caused the couple to raise the baby girl, who they thought was their daughter, for months. The two couples eventually exchanged babies. 

The babies’ embryos were inadvertently swapped at California Center for Reproductive Health and the mistake wasn’t caught until Daphna and Alexander Cardinale confirmed the error with a DNA test. The lawsuit alleges “medical malpractice, breach of contract, negligence, fraud, negligent infliction of emotional distress, and battery.”
