Amazon, NY AG Trade Legal Barbs Over COVID-19 Concerns

Amazon filed a lawsuit against New York State Attorney General Letitia James in an effort to prevent the state from launching its own lawsuit against the retailer regarding the firing of Christian Smalls. So reports Reuters.

amazonAccording to the complaint, Amazon alleges James overstepped her authority by threatening a lawsuit unless the company changes its business practices and releases some profits.

The lawsuit spawned from Amazon’s firing of activist Smalls, who was fired for violating paid quarantine after protesting conditions at a warehouse in Staten Island. Amazon is arguing federal labor laws “take precedence” over New York law.
