Two Roman Catholic dioceses are locked in a legal battle over the remains of the late Sheen, who died in 1979 and could be declared a saint. Sheen, who spent most of his life in New York City, executed a will asking to be buried in Calvary Cemetery.
The issue was complicated when Bishop Daniel R. Jenky of the Diocese of Peoria, where Sheen was born and ordained, inquired about canonizing Sheen. There are different accounts of what arrangements were made once the inquiry occurred.
