A number of law schools reportedly used misleading and inaccurate job placement statistics when advertising their schools, and some students have taken issue with the law schools' deception. Most debt-relief claims so far have come from undergraduates that attended a for-profit college.
However, some speculate law-savvy students will see an opportunity to use the ED rules in their favor. Some experts are concerned the ED's rules will leave taxpayers on the hook if large swaths of debts are forgiven at their expense. So far, less than 1% of the defense to repayment claims have come from law school students.
