Lawsuit Alleges Miss. Education Hasn’t Lived up to Civil War-era ‘Readmissions Act’  

A federal lawsuit filed in Mississippi by the Southern Poverty Law Center on behalf of four parents alleges the Jackson Public School District and the Yazoo City Municipal School District are not providing a mandatory “uniform system of free public schools,” as required by federal law.
