Graffiti Artists Settle with Broward Sheriff’s Office After Dog Attack

Humberto Pellegrino and Pedro Claveria settled a civil rights lawsuit against the Broward Sheriff’s Office after they were attacked by a police dog. So reports the Sun-Sentinel.

The artists will receive $175,000. Pellegrino and Claveria say they were viscously attacked despite immediately surrendering when they were caught tagging freight trains and gondolas. 

One deputy yelled to the dog, “Eat, boy, eat,” during the incident. Gerald “Jerry” Wengert, one of the deputies involved in the incident, has been accused of police brutality on a number of occasions and is the subject of a wrongful death lawsuit.
