The money will be disbursed over three years and will be directed toward schools in “low-income neighborhoods.” The 2015 lawsuit filed by Community Coalition and Reyna Frias, a parent in East L.A., alleged the district misspent $450 million per year.
The suit alleged the district wrongly used money for general operations that has been set aside for targeted students. The money will likely benefit students from low-income families, those in foster care and English learners.
