Legal Fight: Surrogate Refuses to Abort One of Three Fetuses

A California surrogate has gone public with her refusal to abort one of the three fetuses she is carrying despite the fetuses’ biological parents’ insistence that she do so. So reports The New York Post.

The surrogate, Britteneyrose Torres, 26, says the biological parents were initially fine with the prospect of triplets. However, she says that once the prospect became real they demanded that she abort one of the three fetuses. She was implanted with two fertilized, but one of them split around the twelfth week of her pregnancy.

The biological parents claim a provision in the surrogacy contract gives them a right to order the abortion. They have suspended payments they owe Torrres pursuant to the contract as a result of her refusal to abide by their wishes.
