Calif. Gov. Brown Signs Ambitious Climate Legislation

California Gov. Jerry Brown signed legislation to expand his already historically ambitious climate change initiative. So reports the Associated Press.

His previous efforts were already considered aggressive by many and faced substantial opposition. His new goal, to reduce emissions 40% below 1990 levels by 2030, may prove challenging. California officials plan to increase renewable electricity use, improve energy efficiency in buildings and foster the use of 1.5 million “zero-emissions” vehicles. Opponents say the bill puts undue pressure on business and those already struggling with high energy costs.
