Ill. Lawyer Suspended for Faking Sickness

The Illinois Supreme Court earlier this month suspended for 60 days a lawyer who untruthfully told the clerk in the Chicago-based U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit that he was sick on the day he was scheduled to argue his first criminal appeal. So reports the ABA Journal.

The attorney admitted his lie when the appeals court, which has since ordered him to pay a $1,000 fine, asked for documentation of his illness.
