After 166 Years, Black Lawyer Edward Garrison Draper Gets Into Maryland State Bar  

Edward Garrison Draper was admitted to the state bar by the Maryland Supreme Court 166 years after being blocked from doing so due to being Black. So reports Reuters.

DartmouthThe 1855 graduate of Dartmouth College would have been allowed to join had he been white, noted the judge who denied him in 1857. Draper was the “earliest known individual” who was denied to the state bar due to being Black.
