Lawsuits to that end have already been filed in some states, and it is unclear if other states might move to simply leave his name off the ballot should he win the Republican nomination again. Former Rep. Madison Cawthorn was found to have been disqualified for office under this provision, but the ruling came after he had already lost his primary.
