Sacklers Immune from Opioid Lawsuits, DOJ Review Pending  

A bankruptcy settlement approved by federal judge Robert Drain has granted the Sackler family immunity from lawsuits related to the nation’s opioid crisis, although future action challenging the ruling might be taken. So reports NPR.

Purdue PharmaThe family owns Purdue Pharma, which is the manufacturer of OxyContin. As a result of the settlement, the family will pay close to $4.3 billion and forfeit ownership of the pharmaceutical company. Reportedly, they have made more than $10 billion in opioid sales.
